The COSI Back to Work Grant Program Lead Coach will assist with the development, implementation, and evaluation of activities designed to support the academic success of the COSI Back to Work scholarship recipients. The Back to Work program at PPCC combines scholarship funding to pay direct educational expenses with a stipend and personalized coaching for all scholarship recipients. The program is designed to support students whose household income was reduced as a result of the COVID pandemic, and who will complete a degree or certificate at PPCC within one academic year.
The Lead Coach will create and implement 21st century student recruiting strategies. The Lead Coach will cultivate new partnerships with community stakeholders and will coordinate with current community partners and stakeholders to recruit new students who meet the grant program criteria. The Lead Coach will coach a cohort of students to achieve their academic and career goals. The Lead Coach will ensure that COSI Back to Work scholarship recipients comply with the requirements of the program. The Lead Coach will provide guidance and support via a variety of initiatives including personal coaching, academic mentoring, group facilitation, and referrals to other on and off campus resources. The specialist will employ principles of High Impact Practices in their work and will direct students to High Impact Learning opportunities.
This is a grant-funded position. Multi-year grants are funded based on the fiscal years for the full grant period. However, there is no guarantee that funding is available year after year from the awarding agencies. Employment with the college after each grant-funded period is not assured.
Grant-funded positions cannot guarantee a payout of leave benefits. Grant-funded employees are encouraged to work with their supervisor to schedule and utilize annual leave benefits during each grant fiscal year.
Grant funded positions may be eligible for annual increases contingent upon awarded yearly grant budgets and a satisfactory performance evaluation.
- Completed Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Two years of professional experience in advising, counseling, social services, teaching or student services. Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources.
- Two years of staff supervision experience.
- Completed Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Two years of professional experience working in a higher education setting with adult students.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, sales, or other closely related area, preferably in a higher education setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with financial aid, enrollment, or other student service processes at a college or university.
- Demonstrated experience using an enrollment and advising system (such as Banner or EAB), a learning management system (such as D2L), or similar student/client information system.
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking, teaching, facilitating workshops, or small group facilitation.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program evaluation, analysis, and data collection.

Oversee the provision of regular one-on-one and small group coaching for a cohort of 300 COSI Back to Work scholarship recipients to facilitate academic success in college and provide direct support to scholarship recipients. Communicate with faculty concerning students’ academic progress. Connect students to college resources. Ensure students comply with COSI Back to Work requirements.
Represent the college in the community by creating, hosting, and participating in recruitment events/forums to identify and engage Colorado residents whose household income decreased as a result of the pandemic.
Assist with the overall evaluation of the program including disaggregated data collection and analysis of key measurements of the COSI success program grant. Manage the COSI Back to Work coach.
Develop and coordinate group-mentoring initiatives to provide academic, personal, and career enrichment activities, such as welcome events, team building, and service learning.

- Ability to manage program caseload with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prepare reports regarding work and impact.
- Utilize a case management model to provide the assistance needed for students to complete academic goals at PPCC.
- Knowledge of and ability to make proper referrals to students for college programming and support services.
- Guide students to become their own advocates in achieving educational goals by referring them to institutional Student Success resources.
- Coach students on academic success strategies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other department staff.
- Apply strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with students, staff, faculty, and community members.
- Mentor student cohorts in a classroom environment to advance student retention.
- Assist students on financial literacy, FAFSA compliance, and scholarship opportunities. Assist students to develop and comply with their student success contract agreement. Apply knowledge of financial aid and financial aid referral needs and scholarship searches.
- Work collaboratively and efficiently with the Foundation office on student success.
- Employ efficient organizational skills and work under deadlines to achieve strategic goals.
- Occasional weekend work may be required.
