Advisor/Test Proctor (Temporary Hourly)

The Advisor/Test Proctor part-time hourly position exists to provide professional advising related to educational, and career related decision making, focusing on academic advising for Career & Technical Education (CTE) degrees and certificates and transfer degrees and courses of study. The position proctors and administers PPCC course tests, placement tests, and any other tests offered by PPCC; maintains test integrity by ensuring a secure and standardized test environment. This position serves all regional campuses as needed. This position will also provide exploratory academic and career advising, including collaborating with relevant departmental and institutional personnel to ensure appropriate educational planning to meet student academic and career goals.
Hourly positions, not to exceed 28 hours per week.
This position is located at the Centennial Campus. Primary working hours will be Monday through Thursday 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience working with diverse populations
- One or more years of experience providing excellent customer service in an educational setting

Academic and Career Advising
- Providing general academic and career advising in person and via various advising related software technologies to new and continuing students, to include; evaluating and interpreting placement test scores; recommending coursework and teaching students to register for classes.
- Preparing and interpreting academic plans to determine student’s progress toward academic and career goals.
- Ensure that students understand four-year transfer options, partnerships, and other resources.
- Making appropriate referrals to other college student services areas in support of students’ academic and personal needs.
- Documenting student interactions in accordance with department and institution policies in support of accountability and program assessment.
- Ensuring that all relevant advising and career information is up to date; including but not limited to: admissions requirements; new programs and course changes; important dates; college-wide initiatives; transfer requirements and options.
Test Proctoring and Administration
- Proctors and administers PPCC course tests; placement tests; and any other tests offered by PPCC.
- Administers, proctors, and scores various testing instruments at the local and national levels as they relate to supporting PPCC students in their academic & career goals.
- Maintains training and certification requirements to administer tests and ensure their integrity.
- Receives PPCC exams from instructors and ensures exams can be tracked and are administered correctly.
- Schedules examinees using various scheduling programs through testing companies and PPCC.
- Set up and maintain examination computers including trouble-shooting IT related issues.

- In-depth knowledge of academic advising procedures and policies; advising information resources; and college’s instructional programs.
- Knowledge and understanding of community college mission and students.
- Demonstrated evidence and understanding of the concepts of diversity and multiculturalism and their application in the workplace.
- Ability to prepare effective written communications, utilizing correct grammar and spelling.
- Excellent computer skills and comfort with technologies including email, internet, and web-based applications.
- Skill in organization and accurate record-keeping with strict attention to detail and student privacy issues.
- Ability to develop practical academic and career plans of action based upon student’s individual life situation and goals.
- Ability to professionally and tactfully interact, communicate, and establish rapport and work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and community members/organizations.
- Demonstrated skills in organization and accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail and student privacy (FERPA) issues.
- Ability to obtain and maintain certifications for proctoring of different testing companies.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Barring special circumstances (as evaluated by supervisor), this position will not be granted annual leave during semester breaks when the college is open, due to responsibilities in supporting break advising efforts.
- Position requires energetic, flexible team member willing to work evenings and Saturdays.
- Work location assignment will be variable depending on programmatic needs, and may include any of Pikes Peak Community College’s regional campuses as well as off-campus partner locations.
- Position requires ability to travel between campuses as required by job assignment.
