The Fixed Asset Accountant provides support to Financial Services with responsibilities for Fixed Assets and Capital Construction accounting functions.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution in Accounting or Finance, OR Associate's degree with two years of professional level experience in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in construction project accounting processes.
- Experience in fixed asset accounting processes.
- Experience with financial reporting systems.
- Related experience in a higher education setting or non-profit or public fund accounting experience.

- Fixed Assets: Record all Fixed Asset additions, disposals, and transfers. Prepare journal entries to record all capitalized purchases on the Banner Fixed Asset Module. Follow capitalization criteria established by the College, Colorado Community College System, State of Colorado and GAAP. Run monthly depreciation process and ensure that amounts are accurate. Tag all new assets acquired by the College. Maintain all records, including purchase orders and invoices, for capitalized items. Work with Purchasing Office to ensure correct account coding. Maintain TME Inventory System. Reconcile TME Inventory System to Banner Fixed Asset Module to Banner General Ledger as required. Coordinate and perform annual physical inventory of equipment at all campuses. Work with campus personnel to resolve inventory questions or discrepancies. Manage the additions and disposals of all Federal funded equipment by coordinating with Restricted Funds Manager.
- Capital Construction: Maintain detail information for all construction projects, including encumbrances, payments and retainage balances. Prepare payment vouchers on all capital construction projects and the corresponding journal entries to the appropriate project account in Banner. Work with Facilities Office to ensure that all expenditures are correctly coded. Balance College and State project information. Ensure proper Construction in Process (CIP) recognition. Accurately close projects at completion.
- Year-end Closing Process and Annual Financial Audit: Prepare all required journal entries, footnotes, exhibits and schedules during year-end closing process. Compile required information during annual financial audit.
- Other: College projects, committees, and other strategic tasks as assigned.
